Sleep Over at Grandma's

I have so loved my time off work this Christmas. I haven't accomplished loads, but I have enjoyed myself. The best ever is spending time with my grand-daughters. I watched the girls the other night and Kate spent the night. She sure keeps my moving. When she holds out her hand to me and says, "come on grandma", she melts my heart. She had Jim and I pushing her in her umbrella stroller around the house and then in her wagon, now that's tricky. She didn't want to get out of the wagon so we made it comfortable for her. She is sleeping in her big girls bed now so I put her in that big bed, right in the middle and gave her a big kiss good night, hoping she would be ok all night and she was. It took her a while to fall asleep, but she was as good as gold. She slept a lot better than I did. I woke about 2:00 to very loud snoring and had to sleep on the couch. Needless to say it wasn't very comfortable and I had a hard time getting back to sleep. When I finally woke to the sound of Kate it was 8:45. I couldn't believe we had all slept that late. I walked in to find Kate smiling and she immediately jump out of bed and wanted to play. She is the happiest girl. She does your heart good. After getting everyone fed and dressed we took her shopping with us for a bit.
I look forward to when both Kate and Megan will be having sleep overs with grandma.

Kate helped grandpa collect the morning paper.

This is one of her pretend sad faces.

Merry Christmas One and All

Jim and I took this picture last night at the Bountiful Temple. The light in the sky just above the temple look as if there were a conduit of light coming from heaven. It was peaceful and beautiful.
Merry Christmas everyone.
What a wonderful day to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. I'm so grateful for Him coming to earth, for His life and example. May we all be more life Him in our everyday lives.

It is a beautiful Christmas day. Although, I have to say I wished for a white Christmas. There is something about a new blanket of snow that makes a Christmas morning. The sun was nice and warm today. He had me crying first thing this morning when he presented me with a water color of the home I grew up in. Voices of my parents rang through my ears and a longing to be home again and the memories over took me.
I lived in this home from my birth to when I left home to get married. It was home to 6 girls and only one bathroom. A miracle on my fathers part if you ask me.

Ok so this isn't the best picture, but we were happy to be together this morning.

Jim was able to put on a few more rows of shingle while the sun shined.

Jim and I enjoyed a quiet morning together and made ready a meal for the kids soon to arrive. We opened presents first, and gave Kate and Megan a wagon. She was having more fun helping daddy and grandpa put it together than opening up gifts. I think she was a little overwhelmed with the day, but she always manages to keep me laughing with her funny faces and antics. Megan was hungry, and after eating she managed to give me smiles that melt my heart.

Keith kept us entertained with his magic tricks.

Kate found new places to hide.

Look Who Turned 2!!

Happy Birthday Kate! It's my grand-daughter's birthday today. I took her to lunch and shopping. We had a great time. She is not a big eater, but she loves her chocolate milk. After drinking her milk and eating a little hot dog and fries she enjoyed playing on the toys at Artic Circle. She wanted me to go down the slid with her and couldn't understand why grandma could climb on the big toys with her.

Tonight we went to her birthday party. All the families were there. Sara had everything done up just right. There were clever little touches everywhere. The spinach salad was Kelp and the water and lemon aide were ocean water and fresh water, fun stuff like that.
I believe Kate was enjoying opening her gifts. It was like Christmas there were so many. Her mom and dad gave her a doll house and I don't think there is a little girls who is going to want to go to bed tonight. We gave her a dress up chest and she loved the crown, high heels and magic wand.

I can't believe she is 2. She is growing up so fast. Megan turned 3 months just the other day and she too is getting so big.
Happy Birthday Kate. We love you very much.

Christmas Food Court Flash Mob, Hallelujah Chorus - Must See!

Watching this gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye. Through the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives this choir helped a great many people recognise the true meaning of the season of Christmas. These people have beautiful and powerful voices. Hope you enjoy.

Family Fun

Tonight the Haacke's got together to share some Christmas cheer. We had a lot of yummy food and lots of laughs. We played some games and shared a small Christmas present. I read a story about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. I miss having my father do this. He always had such a special message to share. Tonight we missed Sara, Megan (who was very sick), Michael, Tracy, Hailey, Aubrey, Josh and his new wife, and always Jana, Lynn, Jared, Lexi, Josh, Jesse, and Jakelle.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas Cheer

We were entertained by the Beattie (Paul, James, Michael, Luke)
14 Boy and 5 girls for the great grandchildren.

Tonight we had our Hadlow Christmas Party. We had a lot a great food, and watching the children run around playing ball wore me out. They have so much energy, I wish I had just a drop or as my father used to say; if we could only bottle it.

I missed having the children reenact the nativity. Next year it's a must. It doesn't seem complete without it. We had a fun time, but there were many missing from our family tonight, too many other activities got in the way. It's the first time we have waited until later in the month so next year we will try for an earlier date.

We did manage to get a picture of the small ones, and a few of the grown ups to make sure they all stayed seated.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

DONE!!

Another ending to a semester. This has been a very long semester and out of all the classes I have taken I am most glad to see this one pass. It's not been too difficult, but rather an over load of homework. I worked through this one again on line and I have to admit I didn't put forth the effort I have in the past. My son scolded me and said I would have given him the razz for not keeping up to date on his homework. I had to conceed. I believe I am running out of steam, and losing interest. My life has changed since I first began school and with only one class a semester it's taken me much too long. Maybe I will fill different after the Christmas break, and I hope that I can show more interest in my next class. I truly admire those who have gone back to school with families and graduated.
I just keep telling myself "take one step at a time."

5 Years Ago Today

I can't believe it's been 5 years. Oh how I miss my mom. Her laugh, her listening ear, her homemade rolls, our shopping days together, our talks, her beautiful blue eyes, just having her near. She was so kind and giving and I knew I could always count on her. I love you mom!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have loved this month of thanksgiving. For the first time in a long time this month has seemed more like Thanksgiving than it has in a very long time. Each day I have thought about all the people in my life and all the blessings I have received. I could go on and on about all the many things I am thankful for, but today I want to give thanks for family. My husband, son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, parents, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and for the wonderful in laws I have. There are more than I could ever name, and whats best is that I know if I ever needed anything I could ask anyone of these people. They are family and the best family there ever was or will be!!
I am so blessed to have the gospel of Jesus Christ, my home, food, good friends, my job, food on our table, to live in America, to have good health, etc, etc, etc................................................................
Happy Thanksgiving to all and hope your day was a very special one.

I'm Thankful For..............

This morning I awoke and as soon as I could get myself moving I went to the kitchen and began making pies. I know Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but tonight Keith and Sara will be eating Thanksgiving dinner at our house. I spent the day in the kitchen and I was so grateful for feeling better. My eyes and nose are still running, but I am on the mend. As I was baking my pies I made a blueberry pie this year that I normally don't make. It was my father's favorite pie. I have thought of him and my mother so much lately. She always made blueberry pie for my dad and no one got a piece until my dad had had his. Thanksgiving dinner at home was quite a production. My mother always brought out her best china. The living room was turned into the dinning room and we worked getting the tables set, helping my mother with her wonderful homemade rolls, and anything else she needed. I loved Thanksgiving at home. The food always tasted better when she made it.
I also made my mothers fudge today. I have been craving it for some time now. Anyway, as I was busy baking I thought of my mother and was so grateful she taught me how to cook. I'm grateful for the wonderful things both my parents taught me and the legacy they left us. I'm thankful for being raised in a home where I knew I was loved. I miss them very much today, but so grateful for all they have given me.

I'm Thankful For........

Monday was a loss. For the past few days I have felt a cold or something coming on. I was wishing it away, because who has time to be sick. I really wasn't sure if it was a cold or something to do with my eye surgery. I went to work Monday, not feeling well at all, but there was a few things that had to be taken care of. After everyone telling me to go home I finished my responsibilities, and making sure Lynnett could stay for me, I went home took some NyQuil and crawled in bed. I slept all afternoon and most of the evening. The night wasn't so good. My head felt like it would explode, and all my teeth ached terribly. I knew this morning I wouldn't be going anywhere. I have spent a second day in bed sleeping a little, but mostly tossing and turning.
My husband came home today at lunch to check on me and see if I needed anything. What a sweet heart. I'm feeling more alive tonight and had some soup for dinner. So I combining Mondays, and Tuesdays, thankful post. This may sound strange, but I'm so thankful for my sick leave and for NyQuil.

Happy 30th Birthday Keith!!!

Today is a very special day. Today my is my son Keith's 30th birthday. First of all, he is my miracle child. He has brought more joy into our life than he will ever know. I have never been disappointed in him in any way. He was an easy child to raise. He never gave us grief only joy. He has always respected me as his mother and been somewhat my protector. Even when Jim would try and tickle me Keith would get mad at his dad for fear he would hurt me. I'm grateful for the man he has become. He married an outstanding, sweet girl, whom we love as our own. He is a hard worker, kind and generous and when he laughs you can't help but laugh with him. He honors his priesthood and today he blessed our delightful little grand-daughter Megan. What a sweet little angle she is. She looked so adorable in her dress and she was so good. Her daddy gave her the most beautiful blessing. Keith always reminded us being to proud, but today I was so proud of him. So today I am grateful for my son Keith and for the priesthood he holds and honors.

Megan

Steve, Grandpa Hadlow, Sara's Grandfather, Keith, Tom, Chris, Chris, and Jim all stood in the circle to bless Megan.

What a sweet family!

I loved Kates hair today. Isn't her it cute!

I'm Thankful For..........

I'm very late - sorry. The day completely got away from me. It was to say the least one crazy day. I'm thankful for prayer. When I went to bed Friday night I knew the men would be coming in the morning to begin putting up the walls in our garage, and knowing that the weather was to turn bad I prayed for a reprieve. I asked that they be able to get up all the walls and finish the top for for cover before it began raining. It was so cold yesterday with the wind blowing. I felt so bad for them out there working. They worked so hard. I could hear pounding, the sounds of the electric nail gun and the saw going all day long. They took a short break and came in out of the wind for a little lunch and then back to work. About 4:00, I saw the first couple of rain drops hit our back door. I wasn't sure it they were going to make it. My niece was just picking up her children that I had been watching and then it started to hail. A few minutes later I went to the side door and they were throwing things from off the top floor. They had finished the last sheet of wood as the snow began to fall.
This is my small miracle today of an answered prayer, which I will for ever be grateful.

I'm thankful for the weekend. Every Friday I sing my "Favorite Friday" song and can't wait to get home. It's been a long busy week and this weekend won't be any different, but I love the weekends. I get to sleep in another hour, Sundays are so peaceful, and I think its just being home during the day that I love. It rejuvenates me for another week to come.

I'm Thankful For............

When I was a young girl in Primary I learned to crochet. You know, the easy stuff like hot pads. When I was about 25 I took a knitting class with my mother-in-law and made a sweater. I never did wear it and have no idea to this day where it ended up. Since then I have made simple things such as scarfs and hats. I enjoy working and creating with my hands.
When Jim and I learned that we were getting another grand-daughter I wanted to make something special for her. So this last June I began crocheting a baby blessing dress and blanket. With a little help I was on my way. I was really surprised at how much I was enjoying it. I hit a couple of snags, but once again with a little help from a professional I got through it. I have loved using my hands and making this special gift that I hope Megan will cherish. It's not fancy, but for a first project it didn't turn out too bad. Hopefully I'm the only one who can recognize the mistakes.
I'm thankful for my hands and the small hidden talent God has given me.

Tonight I had another Young Women in Excellence program that I went to with my presidency. It was very nice. I love hearing the young women talk about their personal progress and how it has changed them. One of the young women tonight read a scripture that helps her when she is having troubles. It's in Either 12: 27 and reads:

And if men come unto me I will show them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then I will make weak things become strong unto them.

I have read this scripture before, but tonight it was really something I needed to be reminded of. I'm so thankful for my scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. It is truly a book of scriptures for us in these latter days. I love reading my scriptures. They bring me peace and answer questions for me when I am in doubt. On days when life seems more hectic than I can bear I remember that I have not read my scriptures. They remind me to come unto Christ and to have faith.

I'm Thankful For.........

September 23, we received our building permit and shortly after that the digging begun. We have lived in this home now for 12 1/2 years and are finally adding our garage. I am so excited!! Mark Johnson did the construction on the foundation and has done a great job. Jim will help with the rest so we can save a little. I can't wait to pull into the finished project, but there is still plenty to do. This week they will start putting up the walls and hopefully things will move quickly. It will probably be spring before we get the storage room upstairs and all the finishing touches, but I can wait. It's been 30 years since we have had a garage to pull into. It almost seems like a dream. I'm just hoping the weather will hold out another week.
I am so grateful for this blessing!

I hope I can pull in without hitting something. haha
