Thank you!!!!

Thank you to all of you for making my birthday so special. I was showered with flowers, gifts and kind words from so many. I feel so blessed to have the best family and friends a person could ask for.
My sweet husband took Keith, Sara, Kate and I to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory - YUMMMM. Having my family together meant the world to me. What better way to spend your birthday than with family.
This will be my last official birthday - if you get my drift.

A few of my favorite things!!

Fall is here!!!! Fall is the BEST!! I love everything about the fall. Apples are in season and it reminds me of my dad. The crisp air, cuddling up in a blanket and so much more. So here are a few reasons I love the fall......

#1. I was born in the fall - the colors are awesome!!

#2 The smells of fall and the holidays approaching

#3 Pumpkin Pie

#4 Gem fair - So I can supply my habit of making jewelry

#5. I get to go to the cabin with my sisters!!

#6 I love Halloween go to this web site to carve your own pumpkin. It's fun!! ( I think this was Keith's pumpkin from last year)

YUMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

A few weeks ago my sister posted a recipe for "Grandma's Apple Crisp." Well, today I finally tried it. Oh my gosh, it was wonderful!! It was a little different and didn't call for the oats I usually put in mine, but I trust my sis. She is a fantastic cook! We didn't have ice cream so whip cream sufficed. You were right again Jana. Thanks for the post! Jim and I had a great treat.
Grandma's Apple Crisp
8 to 10 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 3/4 cup sugar, divided
1 T. cinnamon
nuts (optional)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
6 T. butter
Preheat oven to 350. Fill a large glass 13x9x2 baking dish three-fourths full of sliced apples. Top with 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon, adding nuts if desired. Let stand while you mix together the flour, one cup sugar, salt, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, beat egg until light, and work into flour mixture until crumbly. Place crumble mixture over apples. Melt butter and pour over the top. Bake for 45 Minutes, until crust is lightly browned.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, Yummy!!!

It will grow back, Right?

For the past few months I have tossed the idea around to cut my hair. Every time I mentioned it to someone I would loose my nerve. Every Saturday the feeling comes very strongly, but there is never an appointment open. Well, this Saturday, I found an opening and my nerve. I still get tears in my eyes when I look in the mirror, but what the heck, it will grow back, right?
Before.......

SURPRISE!!

West Bountiful 5k

Waiting for the race to begin

I'm not a real fast runner as you can tell.

This morning I ran in the West Bountiful Trudy Thomas 5k with Keith, Sara and Tom, Sara's dad. I began my training late and was a little worried about being able to make it. The temperature wasn't too hot and we all did pretty well. Sara and Tom finished in about 26 min. Keith finished in about 27 min. and I came in at 30 minutes. Thanks Keith and Sara for encouraging me. They drew for prizes and I won a gift cert. for $250. off any package at the American Laser Center, which made me laugh. And Keith won a round of golf.

Utah State Fair

Every year Jim and I venture to the State Fair. This year we took Keith, Sara and Kate. It's usually the same things every year, but we always love going. It was fun being together as a family. Kate was a little apprehensive about touching the animals, but she was intrigued and I loved watching her face. I think the fish were her favorite. She is such a good little girl. Even in the heat she just smiled and was so pleasant. She loved the eats ie....hot dogs and ice cream. We tried the deep fried twinkee for the first time. I have to say it was really good. It reminded me of a scone with whip cream. My favorite thing was just watching the people. Good times!!!
