A Man of Honor

Today I honor a man whose name meant everything to him; My father, Stanley Lincoln Haacke, my mother called him Abe. He always instilled in us the importance to honor our family name, to be trustworthy, and serve others. I thank my father for teaching us an honest days work. We learned how to work starting with our Saturday mornings. We never slept in, we were up at the crack of dawn with a list of chores, and not until they were done did we go out to play. And because of him we were early risers. Early each day we would here him singing "Rise and shout the cougars are out". After all these years I have really learned to appreciate being a morning person. My day goes much better when I get up early and get things done. We always had a family vacation. It wasn't always fancy with 6 girls, but it was family time and I will always treasure the camping trips, fishing trips, and the one time they took us to Disneyland.
Just a short bio on my dad. He was born Feb. 12, 1926, (Abraham Lincoln's birthday) in his home in Woods Cross, Utah. When the was ready to serve a mission the war broke out and he was in the Air Force training to become a bull turret gunner. After the war he married my mother on June 29, 1945. He worked at Hill Air Force Base, Cleaned the WX post office, and had his own Refrigeration business. He was a hard worker. After 30 years at Hill he retired and worked for the LDS Church until he was about 70. He died at home on Oct. 29th 2003, from Alzheimer's.
I Love and miss you dad.

Family Night

Monday, Keith, Sara, and Kate, came to dinner and then we had our annual pumpkin carving. I love it. Keith and Sara always do such a great job. I didn't get mine done until after they left. I was too busy playing with Kate. She is getting much faster. We watched "Witches" while we carved. It's a cute movie about witches who turn little children into mice.

Kate was sucking on the cold lid of the pumpkin
This is Keith's pumpkn

And this one is mine. EASY!!

Don't you love the cute pj's I found in Jackson Hole for Kate.

Sister's Retreat

Bonnie, Carol, Jana
It's a beautiful view from the deck.

It was a beautiful weekend. The weather was just right for our trip to the cabin. My sister's and I enjoyed our time together shopping, talking, running, laughing, and watching scary movies. Well, that is to say we tried to watch them. They were so scratched it took us twice as long. Next time we will bring our own instead of renting them. We played "Snorta", and laughed so hard our sides ached. That is a fun game. You have to try it if you haven't played it yet. Jana made some yummy pumpkin bread and we ate the most delectable fish and chips from the Rocky Mountain Fish Market. Just about any kind of fresh fish you could ask for, and wonderful clam chowder. Thanks Jana for traveling so far and arranging things for us. We have to do something nice for Wayne and Sherri for letting us use the cabin.

Here is to a great Week End!!

I love these four day weekends. Too bad they don't come more often. I got to spend some much needed time with Jim. He took some personal time from work and we enjoyed our drive up the old highway and lunch at Madocks. Yummy! We spent time with Keith, Sara, Kate, and Sara's family at the Zoo. I hadn't been there for so many years I can't remember. It was fun to see the new baby animals. They have really made some nice changes to the place. If you haven't been for a long time it's a must.
And I LOVE FALL!!!! I have enjoyed the storms. Hearing the rain come down and the thunder made me fix some hot cocoa and cuddle up in a blanket.
I also enjoyed conference. I look forward to hearing from our Prophet and other church leaders. I used to come away with feelings of guilt, but over the years I have learned to be more positive and understand the gift of their messege. Their talks inspire me and make me want to be a better person.
Hope your week end was nice too.

doesn't she look beautiful in that color?
I had her Thursday for a few hours and we had some fun.
