Great Pep Talk

Last evening I attended the General Woman's Broadcast. I came away with a brighter outlook. They were all good talks, but President Uchtdorf's talk was just what I needed to hear. I always love listening to him because his messages are so uplifting, and once again he helped put my life back into perspective. I felt good when the meeting ended and didn't feel as though there wasn't something I hadn't done, but rather I thought of the things I am trying to do.

He talked about the tiny little flower called the Forget-me-not. He made an allegory of the five pedals on the flower to the five things women should not forget.

1. Forget not to be patient with yourself: "No one is perfect, even those who may seem so."

2. Forget not the difference between a good sacrifice and a foolish sacrifice: He defined an acceptable sacrifice as giving up "something good for something of far greater worth."

3. Forget not the happiness that surrounds you: He talked about Charlie in Willy Wonka and how we go through life waiting for our "Golden Ticket". He said "is that if we spend our days waiting for fabulous roses, we could miss the beauty and wonder of the tiny forget-me-nots that are all around us.

4. Forget not the "why" of the gospel: The routines of daily life, the vital aspects of the gospel of Jesus Christ are unintentionally overlooked.

5. Forget not that the Lord loves you: Sometimes we fill a little like the forget-me-not, small and insignificant. "You are loved by the King of infinite space and everlasting time."

You took fantastic notes. I loved that night. It turned out as special as I had hoped. Where else can we go and feel good about trying to improve ourselves? It was a treat.
